Get The Most Out Of Your Home Heating Oil This Christmas
The temperatures are dropping, with frost appearing in the mornings as a crisp reminder that we are heading further into winter with Christmas fast approaching. For home heating oil users this is often a reminder to check the levels in their oil tanks, be it for domestic or commercial use, making sure you have enough is vital.
But are you getting the most out of your kerosene?
As oil heating systems age, their conditions deteriorate due to wear and tear caused by the very kerosene oil you are using to provide heating. This is why we have developed two oil additives to improve the longevity of your heating system and to help you get the very best out of your heating oil!
Kerosene Lubricity Additive
This fuel additive has been designed for stationary systems that are using kerosene instead of gas oil or diesel to protect the fuel pumps from excessive wear. Typically it is used in heating systems where fuel pump failures/seizures have been experienced or are predicted; and agricultural grain dryers. This is needed as low sulphur kerosene does not have the same lubricating properties as additised gas oil or diesel, which often contain suitable ‘lubricity additives.
It protects the system by forming a protective film on metal surfaces to act as a barrier to reduce contact, friction and wear from the kerosene oil. Resulting in a prolonged equipment life.
Premium Heating Oil
This is a fuel additive pack for domestic kerosene (BS2869:C2) that is used to create a premium grade fuel. By using this multi-component product you are guarding against fuel degradation, the corrosion of metal storage tanks and associated pipework, the adverse effects of fuel interaction with copper-containing fittings and pipework and serves to inhibit the build of deposits in storage tanks.
To sum up, by using this oil additive you could achieve the following impressive results from your home heating oil:
- Lower carbon emissions,
- Stabilising fuel to increase shelf life,
- Preventing sludge from forming,
- Reduced deposit build up around nozzles and on heat exchanger surfaces.
All of these benefits a user by reducing the number of service problems you may come across and by improving the system’s efficiency. Keeping your home heated this festive season
Make sure you get the most out of your heating oil this Christmas by giving your kerosene a little treat this year!
